Difference between Invisalign and Braces; with AcceleDent?

The goal of Orthodontic treatment is to straighten teeth to an ideal position, whether using clear or metal traditional braces, or Invisalign. Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable, comfortable plastic trays to accomplish this movement, while traditional braces use metal wires.

Conventional braces give Orthodontists optimal control over the teeth straightening process, whereas with Invisalign the results are directly related to patients’ compliance–if patients choose not to wear the trays for the recommended length of time each day (22hours), they will not see results.

Invisalign has the aesthetic advantage of being less obvious than traditional braces. Invisalign is also recognized as convenient due to the ability to remove the trays before eating and brushing teeth. For these reasons, and considering the need for patient commitment, Invisalign tends to be the preferred option for adults.

Being that each patient’s needs are unique, Maduke Bulat, Orthodontists in Surrey BC, works with each patient individually to identify the optimal teeth straightening solution. Fortunately, as orthodontics specialist, Dr. Maduke and Dr. Bulat have advanced knowledge of the mechanics of tooth movement and can readily identify whether traditional braces or Invsalign offers the best patient outcome. Even in more complex situations, the use of various sized and shaped attachments or the additional use of elastics can be used with Invisalign to achieve more complicated movement, allowing it to remain a orthodontic option.

The Addition of AcceleDent

Whether you and your Orthodontist decide to use braces or Invisalign aligners, AcceleDent can help to shorten your wear time! When AcceleDent is used in conjunction with your orthodontic appliance, it drastically shortens treatment time up to 50% (depending on the situation). So if your expected treatment time with braces is 2 years, than with the use of AcceleDent (20 minutes a day) it could be as short as one year. Similarly, if your Invisalign treatment is expected to be one year, then with the consistent use of AcceleDent you could have a straighter smile in as little as 6 months.

Of course treatment times vary, please consult Maduke Bulat’s Orthodontist Team in Surrey, BC to discuss the best option for your smile.
