What Daily Routine is Involved With Invisalign Orthodontic Treatment?

Traditional braces are not the only way to straighten teeth. Invisalign has quickly become a popular alternative that is just as effective and much more discreet.

Instead of struggling with brackets, wiring, and metal braces, Invisalign is comfortable, easily removed when cleaning or eating, and has no chance of emergency bracket repairs.

With that said, you still have to maintain a consistent daily schedule to achieve the best results.

After Waking Up

When you wake up in the morning, take your Invisalign trays out and thoroughly rinse them in cold water. Then, let them soak in a clean glass of water as you floss, brush, and eat breakfast. After you have finished eating your breakfast, brush your teeth again and then put your Invisalign trays in for the day.

Getting Through the Day

Invisalign must be worn for at least 20 hours per day, so try to minimize taking it out during the day. While it won’t be uncomfortable to wear Invisalign, it can make snacking throughout the day much more difficult, as it is not recommended to eat with Invisalign.

If you can, try and wait until your designated lunchtime and eat a bigger meal, as it will tide you over until dinnertime. Also, always brush your teeth after eating lunch or a snack.

Before Bed

After eating your final meal or snack of the night, it is time to give your Invisalign a clean. For this step, we recommend soaking the Invisalign tray in a container filled with cleaning solution while you brush and floss your teeth. Afterward, rinse off any leftover cleaning solution and put the Invisalign trays back on for the night.

Adjusting your habits to Invisalign may take some time, but it is significantly less intrusive than braces. With that said, remember that Invisalign cannot correct all teeth alignment issues.
