What Will Orthodontic Care Services Be Like as Pandemic Restrictions Ease

As provinces across Canada begin to allow non-essential medical clinics to re-open their doors, many are curious about how re-openings will affect their orthodontic practices. Here is an overview of how the orthodontic care field is adjusting to the restrictions and challenges.

With Canada ramping up its vaccination process and hygiene protocols, more and more opportunities are becoming safer to engage in. However, many care providers believe that we should not forget the sanitation lessons the pandemic has provided.

Although most orthodontic practices have always held themselves up to higher health and safety standards, we see the pandemic as a lesson for us all to take that one extra step to ensure that spaces are as clean and safe as they can be.

The pandemic has surprised us all with the benefits of integrating virtual consultations in the treatment process. Since early in the pandemic, Maduke Bulat has provided free and informative online consultations for patients. These have focused on identifying both a patient’s individual needs and their potential care options.

In the future, teleconsultation will continue to be a great way to streamline various factors of the orthodontic process. They help make treatment more flexible and allow us to keep our patients as safe as possible.

Sparking Future Innovation

One positive aspect of COVID-19 has driven the need for innovation across all fields of healthcare. Orthodontic clinics are now trying to make the process more streamlined, safe, and effective for patients.

The focus has been on providing better remote treatment options that require fewer adjustments to be made in-office. Furthermore, new technology may make existing treatments cheaper, and provide faster and more effective solutions.

The Future

In the short term, things are likely to remain similar to how they are now. Orthodontic clinks are open but will serve a limited capacity. Additionally, Dr. Sandra Maduke and Dr. Ryan Bulat will continue to recommend virtual consultations where possible. But in-clinic adjustments and installation of dental appliances will continue to be done in our office and to the highest standard of safety and sanitization.

Maduke-Bulat is a long-established orthodontics practice in Surrey, BC. Dr. Sandra Maduke and Dr. Ryan Bulat are both certified specialists offering cutting-edge orthodontics in a warm and compassionate environment.
