What’s the New Normal for Orthodontic Appointments?

multi-coloured orthodontic appliances

British Columbia is doing really well in coping with COVID-19 compared to everywhere else in
North America. As such, we are now in Phase 2 of our public health’s response to the pandemic.

Medical offices are starting to reopen everywhere. There are, however, some changes to how
things used to be. Here’s what to expect in the short term for your orthodontic appointments.

Fewer people in the office

The office may look or sound quieter. You won’t see as many people in here because we’re still
observing social distancing as much as possible.

Coming inside alone

You may be asked to come inside for your appointment without a bunch of family members and
friends. We will be trying to keep down the number of people in the office at any one time.

Phone and video conferencing are still options

We will see you in the office when needed, but if a problem can be solved on the phone or by
video conferencing, we’ll try that first.

Fewer people in the waiting room

You may be asked to wait outside in your car until we’re ready for you. There won’t be any
magazines in the waiting room.

Hand sanitizer

You’ll probably see lots of hand sanitizer to make it easy for everyone to use it.

You will see everyone in masks. It’s just one extra precaution that’s easy to implement.

As the pandemic continues, the safety of our patients and our staff is what is most important to
us. Any changes that you notice in the office will be an enhanced safety measure.

What will not change, of course, is our professional and compassionate care for our patients.
That will stay the same.
